Privacy & Consent Policy

Effective Date: November 1, 2026

When you reach out to a lawyer, you are often dealing with something deeply personal. We take that seriously, both in how we represent clients and in how this website handles your information. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

This website, JenicaLeonardLegal.com, is operated by Jenica Leonard Legal PC ("Jenica Leonard Legal," "we," "us"), a law firm based in Santa Rosa, California, serving clients across the North Bay. Jenica Leonard Legal is led by attorney Jenica P. Leonard, licensed by the State Bar of California (Bar No. 245366). Questions about this policy can go to jenica@jenicaleonardlegal.com or 707.247.5051.

2. Please don't send confidential details through this website

Contacting us through this site does not create an attorney-client relationship. Until we have confirmed in writing that we represent you, please do not send confidential or sensitive details about your case through our contact forms or by email. Share only your name, how to reach you, and a brief, general description of what you need help with. We'll take it from there in a private conversation.

3. Information we collect

Information you choose to give us. When you fill out a contact form, sign up for updates, or email us, we collect what you provide, such as your name, email address, phone number, preferred language, and your message.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site automatically receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the site that referred you, and the date and time of your visit. This is used in aggregate to keep the site running and understand which pages are helpful.

We do not use advertising pixels, sell your information, or build marketing profiles about you.

4. Cookies and the services we use

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We keep them to a minimum.

  • Squarespace (website host). Our site is built and hosted on Squarespace. Squarespace sets cookies that are necessary for the site to work and security to function, and, if you allow them, analytics cookies that give us aggregate visitor statistics (for example, how many people visited a page). See Squarespace's Privacy Policy.

  • Google Search Console. We use Google Search Console to understand how our site appears in Google search results, such as which searches lead people to our pages. Search Console uses data Google already collects through its search engine; it does not place cookies or tracking code on our website. See Google's Privacy Policy.

Your cookie choices. When you first visit, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Necessary cookies cannot be turned off without affecting how the site works.

Do Not Track. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" signal. Because there is no common industry standard for these signals, our site does not currently respond to them. We do honor the choices you make in our cookie banner.

5. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Respond to your inquiry and schedule consultations

  • Check for conflicts of interest before taking on a matter, as the law requires

  • Send updates or our newsletter, only if you ask to receive them

  • Keep the website secure and working well

  • Comply with our legal and professional obligations

6. When we share information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only:

  • With service providers who help us run the website and our office (such as Squarespace and our email provider), who may use it only to provide those services

  • When required by law, court order, or the rules governing attorneys

  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of our firm, our clients, or others

  • With your consent

7. How long we keep it

We keep inquiry information only as long as needed to respond, run conflict checks, and meet our legal and professional record-keeping duties. If you become a client, your file is kept according to our client file retention practices, which we will explain to you.

8. Keeping it secure

Our site uses encrypted (HTTPS) connections, and we use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information. No website or email system is completely secure, which is one more reason we ask that you share case details by phone or in person.

9. Your choices and rights

You can ask us to tell you what personal information we have about you from this website, correct it, or delete it, subject to any legal or ethical duty we have to keep certain records. You can unsubscribe from any email update at any time using the link in the email. To make a request, email jenica@jenicaleonardlegal.com. We will not treat you differently for making a request.

10. Young people

This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from them. If you are under 18 and need help with a legal matter, you can call us directly at 707.247.5051, or ask a parent, guardian, or trusted adult to contact us with you.

11. Links to other websites

Our site may link to courts, agencies, and other resources. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites, so please review their policies.

12. Changes to this policy

If we update this policy, we will post the new version here and change the effective date above. If a change is significant, we will note it on our website.
